Purpose
The policies and regulations for the use of study rooms aim to maintain a comfortable library environment that encourages study and research, ensures the health and safety of users, and preserves materials, equipment, and facilities.
These policies also aim to define appropriate behavior when using library facilities, maintain a suitable study environment, and promote mutual respect among users and staff.
The responsible library staff member has full authority, in case of any violation of the following policies and regulations, to stop the violation or submit a report regarding it.
Terms and Conditions of Use
Bringing a valid university ID card is mandatory to use the study room.
The university ID card will be activated through the User Services Section to enable the booking holder to access the study room.
Study rooms are designated exclusively for Qatar University affiliates, including students and faculty members.
Individual study rooms may only be reserved for one person.
Group study rooms may be reserved for groups consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 users.
Undergraduate students with a valid ID card are allowed to book a study room for up to
2 hours per day.
Postgraduate students and faculty members with a valid ID card are allowed to book a study room for up to
4 hours per day.
Bookings are made through the self-service system based on available time slots, ranging from one day up to one month. A confirmation email will be sent by the system.
A booking will be considered
cancelled if the group does not arrive within
15 minutes of the scheduled start time. The room will then be made available to other users through the self-booking system.
Study rooms must be vacated
5 minutes before the end of the reservation time.
Study rooms must be used strictly for academic purposes only, including but not limited to (research, graduation projects, studying). Private tutoring is
not permitted in study rooms.
Quiet must be maintained inside study rooms.
Moving furniture in or out of study rooms is not allowed.
Eating and drinking are not allowed inside study rooms, except for water.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside study rooms.
The library reserves the right to request users to vacate the study rooms if any terms of use are violated.
User Responsibilities
The person who made the reservation is responsible for maintaining the room’s cleanliness and the condition of furniture and equipment.
Personal belongings are the responsibility of their owners. The library is not liable for any lost items.
Suspension of Booking Privileges
The library reserves the right to suspend booking privileges for any user who violates the above policies and regulations.
The violator’s university account may be suspended from using the system for
one academic semester, or as deemed appropriate by the responsible authority in the library.
